Holy Monastery of Panagia Kremasti

It stands imposing and impresses with its volume as if it is hanging on the rock. 800 years ago, residents used to see a light in a hole in the rock at night. They hanged someone with a rope, who found the image of the Virgin Mary floating.

The monastery celebrates its feast day on August 23rd. Thousands of pilgrims on the eve of Vespers and the day of the feast flock to venerate the Mother of God. The monastery receives thousands of pilgrims throughout the year as well. From the balcony of the church, the visitor will see all the beauty of the land of Ilia the forest of Foloi, and the majesty of Erymanthos.

The visitor can go to the monastery from the village of Lanthi or Lambeti at 8km.

Today the monastery consists of 17 nuns, with Abbess Nymphodora Drakopoulou.
